Tetyana Davis is the Ayurvedic
lifestyle coach at Metropolitan Therapies. She teaches concepts of Perfect
Health.
It is usually around this time of the year when most of us try to repair the harm we have done to our bodies over the holidays.
A thoughtful young colleague of mine, who is a certified instructor in Ayurveda teachings, invited me to attend her class in January. Wanting to become a better me, I was delighted to accept.
One of the five sessions was about nutrition, and all included yoga. The classes took place at 10 a.m. on Sundays at Metropolitan Therapies in downtown Cleveland’s warehouse district.
I live in Auburn Township, so this was quite a trip, but curiosity and friendship got me registered.
Director and owner Gina M. Schatz takes pride in Metropolitan Therapies being the first of its kind downtown.
Schatz lives within walking distance of her business and I was impressed and intrigued by this young, attractive woman who has invested in the future of Cleveland.
The center is on the fourth floor of the building at 1400 W. 6th St. As you exit the elevator, you enter a spacious reception area with lots of light and a feeling of serenity.
I like clean, open rooms free of clutter. As I walked down the hallway and into my classroom, it was clear that the staff likes this, too.
Ayurveda, the 5,000-year-old healing system founded in ancient India, is derived from the Sanskrit words “ayus,” meaning life, and “veda,” meaning wisdom.
The Perfect Health Program, designed by doctors Deepak Chopra and David Simon, provides the tools to enhance your physical and emotional well-being through your conscious choices, enlivening the nourishing connection between mind, body and spirit.

The objectives of these classes include reduced stress, improved digestion and sleep patterns, a release of emotional toxicity, optimized daily nutrition and lower blood pressure.
The five-week session I was taking cost $395. The first companion fee is $195 and second is $95.
The center also offers massage therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic treatments, yoga therapy and tai chi.
